Bimota SB8K Gobert

Bimota SB8K Gobert review
Bimota SB8K Gobert

The Bimota SB8K Gobert was produced to celebrate the win of Anthony Gobert on a Bimota SB8R at the 2000 Australian World Superbike round.Power for the SB8K Gobert, like the SB8R, comes from a Bimota-tuned version of the 996 cc L-twin engine from the Suzuki TL1000R superbike.

The chassis features a combination of aluminium and carbon fiber components which results in a frame which is both lighter and stronger than the Suzuki unit.

First out is the SB8K, part of the old stock of parts and engines inherited by the new concern. Not an old bike per se, Bimota has waved its magic spell over the engine management system working considerable wonders in the process.

A technical analysis of the SB8K model shows important technological advances in terms of construction, both of the chassis and engine. The most noticeable and striking feature is the radial motion of the fuel injectors that perfectly mimics the movement of the butterfly valves. This innovation maximizes performance by ensuring a perfect fluidity and consistency of the power delivery over the complete rpm range of the engine, which leads to significantly improved engine performance.
