In 1885 Germans Draimler and Maybach introduced to the world the first motorcycle. Their invention was ingenoiusly simple. They couldn't even imagine, how many strange things humanity will invent using frame, wheels and motor.
Motorcycle lost to car as soon as it was invented. Only due to practical reasons. Four wheels are much stadier, than two. Even into landaulet (a small open car, occurring at the beginning of 20-th century) you could install a more powerful engine. And in general, the iron carriage was much more comfortable, than bike.
When speed increased, one more advantage of car was discovered: it is safer. Well, you could find use for two-wheel vehicle, but if there will be a choice for ordinary customer between car and motorcycle, he will pick up a car. But still, he'll dream about motorbike!
And this is all because motorcycle is...
…when you look beyond the imperfections.
For owners motorcycle is a toy and then everything else. Perhaps, that's why there is a different attitude to it. This is not just transport.
Not just engineers decorate or improve their iron horses, but also fans. In garage, behind the house, in cellar...and in this moment you use your underconsciousness, not even imagination.
American Joey Ruiter, for example, made his bike "invisible" to avoid too much of attention. He covered the mechanism with mirrorlike body, removed all undue and pennant. And he gained noiselessness with electromotor. There is only a little left to do - convince the bypassers not to pay attention to moving rectangular box iden by a person...
This article deals with modern motorcycles. Extravagancy of inventors of the ast require special attention. But you can't just ignore the showed below project. This is a wonderful illustration of how unconscious affects designers and engineers. They say, that frenchmen, who invented it, produced 800 of such vehicles and even sent them to war in Indo-China. Though, military historians found no fact of successful use of such bikes. Let's hope that they at least boosted the morale.
It is hard to say, by what was driven Roongrojna Sangwongprisarn, when he created this monster with his own hands. This hybrid of the "Alien", "Predator" and up-to-date petrol engine looks really astonishing!
In fact, Roongrojna is painter and sculptor. Some of his works are well-known in Bangkok and Asia. But he became really famous after he made his bike.
Francois Knorreck - a real fan of speed from France, waqs making the hybrid of motorcycle and sport car for 10 years. Well, there is nothing special in motorbike, but its sidecar is a small copy of "Ferrari".
…when you're thinking outside the box
What is the problem of many inventors? They limit their imagination looking for simple solutions. As a result, they follow the apparent path, where they push through corporations and ambitious governmental projects. If you reject everything and really come out of shell, you'll realize that there are no borders.
Ben Gulak, the inventor from Canada created this masterpiece: motorycle with electromotor oddly resembling a grasshopper, though, it doesn't jump. The Canadian thinksthat his invention cans solve all transport problems in Chine. When he visited this country, he was terrified by number of scooters riding though the streets, because they pollute the air!
This motorcycle is often showed in different selections of curious inventios, so, ignoring it would be unforgivable.
In 2006 Dodge company announced a competition to publicize their new HEMI engine. Its point was to make a new machine, equipped with a new engine. Among finalists was this "funny" vehicle.
For some reasons, this invention is called bicycle. But in fact, if you add a motor to a bicycle, it becomes a moped, which, afterwards, can become a motorcycle. But this time it wasn't a routine combustion engine, but jet thrust.
Works of Tim Pyken are well-known thoughout Internet and spawned a real wave of Jet Bicycle. Experiments of his followers filled the YouTube. But still, he discoveref this...direction.
A special niche in modern civilization is occupied by concepts. It is hard to say, what is this: advertisment or attempt to guess, how the future motorbike will look like. Often these are just sketches, which will never be implemented in metal. Only few of them "survive" until bike shows, some of them are even capable to ride several laps. Bust some projects became real legends.
For example, like Dodge Tomahawk. This is the most unusual conceptual motorcycle. Even though more than 10 years passed since it was introduced, none managed to outdo it. Moreover, the bike became serial. Almost. 9 copies is not enough for serial production, but this is far more, than of any other concept. Honestly, there could be more of them, but its price scares off potential buyers.
Well, there is a grasshopper-motorcycle, and jetbike in our iverview. The MoonRider is something in the middle. It has also an unusual wheel position - both of them are positioned in front part of the motorcycle. Each of them is equipped with electromotor, but they are exceptionally pony motors.
The primary load lays on plasmajet motor. It's not completely clear, what is it, though. But designers from Marko Design assure that it will replace a gas-turbine jet, because nothing will work without it.
Three wheels on motorcycle? No surprise, it is quite wide-spread. Such bike is not high-speed, but far more reliable.
But it only came to mind of Julien Rondino to place these 3 wheels in a row. This only improves the road adherence, more likely, without sacrificing the speed.
But the idea is just on paper. Nobody has ever assemled this construction and this means, it is impossible to check its dynamic qualities.
